Nesiya, meaning "Journey" in Hebrew and Yiddish, reflects the personal, musical, and spiritual paths of its members. This ensemble, featuring Sveta Kundish (voice), Marcus Rust (trumpet), Daniel Stawinski (piano), Tim Kleinsorge (bass) and Martin Krümmling (drums), weaves a tapestry of music which transcends borders.

The musicians of Nesiya join together to create a unique blend of diverse sounds from the worlds of jazz and improvisational music, infusing it with the deeply felt spirit of traditional and modern singing in the Yiddish and Hebrew languages.

Nesiya’s music encompasses a journey not just in distance, but in depth. Each performance invites listeners into a realm where the ancient and the contemporary meet, where personal tales intertwine with universal themes. Nesiya opens up a heartfelt soundscape that is both intimate and expansive.

Sveta Kundish is a versatile artist renowned for her expertise in Yiddish music and cantorial work, who mastered the style of a traditional unaccompanied song in Yiddish, which makes her one of the few artists in the world who perform and teach this style of music. As a soloist Kundish has graced stages throughout europe and North America. Along with the traditional song one of Sveta's main focuses is newly composed songs songs in Yiddish and Hebrew.
Trumpet

Marcus Rust dedicates his musical life to the connection of ethnic music with jazz and improvisation. The fusion of ethnic music also shaped his work with the church organist Christian Grosch in their duo ZIA, with his bands Noanda and Masaa. For the creative and unorthodox blending of Arabic singing with elements of modern jazz Masaa was awarded the German Jazz Prize.

Piano
Daniel Stawinski has been performing in numerous countries in Europe and around the globe. After finishing his studies at the Conservatory, Daniel Stawinski decided to live in Paris, looking for new challenges and perspectives, particularly in its Latin-American and African music scene. Back in Berlin he founded the Kammerjazz Kollektiv and the Masnavi Duo, two ground-breaking projects exploring new musical territories between modern jazz and classical European and Persian music traditions.

Tim Kleinsorge has been fascinated by sound of rhythm since his early childhood. With his coolness , joy of playing and a round fat tone he has been an integral part of various projects in the German jazz scene for almost two decades.
